The most favorite cut today is the round brillant cut. It accounts for 75% of the diamonds sold. In addition to the round cut, there are oval, marquise, pear-shaped, heart-shaped, emerald, princess, trillant, radiant, and Cushion Cut diamonds.

Although most of these cuts are self-explanatory, the following descriptions will give you a great understanding.

Round brillant - This cut has a 58-facet cut and is calibrated to accomplish the maximum brillance and fire.Oval diamond - A favorite cut for women with short or small hands, this cut gives the illusion of longer fingers Marquise diamond - This cut is elongated with pointed ends. Pear-shaped diamond - As the name implies, this cut is in the shape of a pear. It is a mixture of the oval and marquise cuts. This is other favorite cut for women with short or small hands. Heart-shaped diamond - With this diamond cut, the skill of the cutter is very important. Emerald diamond - This cut has a rectangular shape, resembling a stair with cropped corners. Princess diamond - This cut resembles a quadrilateral with numerous facets. Unlike the oval and pear-shaped cuts, this cut is more flatteRing for women with long fingers. Trillant cut diamond - This is a triangular-shaped stone. Radiant diamond - This is a rectangular or square-shaped diamond with cropped corners and 70 facets. Cushion Cut, an ancient cut, and the emerald cut. The shape is often referred to as the pillow cut. Before a diamond is cut, the diamond cutter has to analzye the diamond. Two factors are important. These are maximizing the return on the speculation and how fast the diamond can be sold.
