Another formula would be for you to use the mix you use for homemade vanilla ice cream.
Onion Rings:
How to Make excellent Onion Rings at HomeSlice the ends off each onion and peel. Now slice the onion in the same direction as when you cut the ends off. Make each slice as thick as you like. Now, without breaking the onion rings, detach each slice. Then you will decide what size rings that your want to batter and bread.
You will need three large pans and one large tray. From left to right, fill the first pan ¼ full with enriched flour, the second one with your ½ gallon of ice cream mix and fill the third pan is ¼ full with cracker meal. Place your tray at the end of this line.
Place a hand full of rings into the pan of ice cream mix. Make sure each of them is covered thoroughly. Now, pick up a few of the rings and place them into the flour. Cover them wholly and then place them back into the ice cream mix. Again, cover them wholly with mix. Now, one by one, take a ring from the mix and lay it into the cracker meal. Cover the ring with meal and pat with your hand, then turn the ring over, cover and pat again. With time you will learn the permissible pressure. If the breading will not stay on the rings while cooking, you need more pressure. Then place the ring onto the tray. Continue this process until complete.
Each ring should be wholly covered. When complete, these rings should cook in oil at a high climatic characteristic (350) until golden brown (2 minutes). Drain and eat. Umm. I can taste em now.
